NVIDIA Tegra 3 - official announcement of the mobile processor

NVIDIA has officially unveiled its newest mobile "system on a chip" Tegra 3 (also known under the code name Kal-El).Novelty is the first quad-core solution designed for mobile devices. During this process, NVIDIA Tegra 3 even though the product is designated as a quad, in fact, carries a five ARM cores, including core quartet with high performance, and support the core-companion, which is used for applications without consuming system resources and not overloading the processor. As stated in materials NVIDIA, in single core mode clock frequency can reach 1.4 GHz, and the quad - 1.3 GHz.Thus, NVIDIA Tegra 3 can use the power or the main nuclei, a subsidiary nucleus, depending on the task at hand, thus saving battery power and increase battery life of mobile devices. This single-chip system is made according to 40-nm process technology and, above mentioned five ARM cores, includes in its membership 12-core GPU, which provides approximately three-fold increase in graphics performance compared with the Tegra 2. We add that the first product based on the NVIDIA Tegra 3 was Tablet PC ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime.
